Type of cleanses that are good for the soul
For me this title needs no introduction. It's easy to lose sight of yourself from constant interference by others, events, and even our own thoughts. Through this, it can take a toll on our energy bringing us down a path of negativity, depression, irritation and feeling low. It's important to keep ourselves in check to ensure we're not being too affected by this.

I'm sure all of you have developed remedies overtime to help restore your energy flow and stay balance, but I just wanted to share our favorite ones that help keep us in line.

Social media

Can you recall the last time you had a quiet day which you didn't use your phone or go on the computer?

Saying this out loud may sound unrealistic but when was the last time you enjoyed an event not through your phone. I don't expect anybody to go cold turkey but if you commit an hour everyday you can steadily work your way up to 2 or 3 hours a day.

I like social media as much as the next person but the self loath that comes along with it isn't worth it. Plus human to human interaction is a better way to communicate and build strong relationships.

CLEANING out your space

When you walk into a room, you know immediately if it feels like home, if it's neutral or if you need to get out of there right away. You can't expect to keep yourself balanced if your not openly aware of your space.

Take a moment and identify what isn't working for you in your space and put some consciousness into what you can eliminate or add to create positive atmosphere. Don't keep storing something you shouldn't miss or haven't missed.

Two things you ought to consider is decluttering and thinking about the purpose of your room. Fear warning, finding the exact purpose of your room or space can be unclear at first, but I just concentrate on the things I want to get out of my room. If you declutter successfully you will feel more refreshed, uplifted and have more storage space.

DIMINISHING Negativity

The idea behind this cleanse is to try and find the silver lining in anything that annoys you.

Negativity can stem from various things like social conditioning or insecurities. The key is to work on decreasing the negative vibes, even if it means getting rid of friends. Be honest with yourself.  If you are trying to find a sense of balance holding onto toxic relationships won't be much help.

Alternatively, you can try to find the good in everything. Personally, this is a gray area for me but if you make an effort you'll see a negative event can have a positive impact in some shape or form.

Physical health

One aspect that many people overlook when it comes to self-confidence is our physical health. Personally, I feel better about myself when I'm exercising regularly and eating a balanced diet. This is because the mind and body are linked. Our bodies can change how we feel emotionally.

Being physically active can help you improve your body confidence, which will do wonders for your overall confidence. Additionally, exercise is also a great way to de-stress. It releases a happy hormone, called serotonin, to brighten your mood. And when paired with a nutritious diet, you'll have not only good health but, have even more confidence than you did before.

The longest I've went without exercising and eating healthy was a month, never again. Not only was my energy low, but I experienced frequent mood swings. Smh. All the high sugar foods and caffeinated drinks I was indulging fluctuated my mood and made me irritable and anxious. If you are experiencing these symptoms try to put more thought into what you eat and physical activities.

Books

When in doubt read. This is my go to remdy for everything and anyone. You'll be amazed by the amount of comfort that comes from reading. Whether it's a novel, magazine, article or eReader. Reading can be a distraction, a learning tool, inspirational or plainly entertaining.

For the sake of this post I would encourage you to read an inspiring or self help book like Don Miguel Ruiz's book, The Four Agreements. A life changing book that offers the simple idea of four life agreements, stemmed from the ancient Toltec wisdom of the native people of Southern Mexico.

Ruiz's Four Agreements provides you the perfect code for life. It helps you work on personal development, behavior, communication and relationships. Plus it's a short read.
Keep an open mind and try these out. The outcome may surprise you.

Til next time
